Absolutely gorgeous property that is deceptively large – perhaps mandating several visits… luckily, the wine is good enough to justify them! We did our tasting in the Rhine House, which is an architectural gem. The inside is just as cool and Victorian as the outside, and lends itself to a unique tasting experience in Napa – cannot speak for the other tasting rooms, but we did peek in, and they looked pretty nice as well.

One minor put-off was that the winery is sooooo invested in how many points their wines have earned… an unnecessary crutch that made us question whether we would be able to tell if the wine was good without knowing the scores (wine being subjective, we both loved the 95-point Howell Mountain cab over the 99-point reserve cab that we tried…). Just a little aggressive and in-your-face, but enough dwelling on that small point!

The grounds are incredible, and I wish we had spent more time outside. After our tasting, we each got a glass of wine and wandered around before the daylight ran out. The bocce court looked great, and so we’ll definitely plan to come back and take advantage of it (if not too busy) in warmer months.
