Spring Mountain Vineyard is easily one of the most photogenic wineries in Napa Valley. The winery is located just outside of the St. Helena town limits – off of the narrow, windy Spring Mountain Road connecting Napa and Sonoma. The original winery on this property (La Perla Winery) dates from 1873. Several other historical buildings, all from the late 1800s, include an old barn with a vintage horse drawn carriage and miscellaneous winery equipment.

The winery exclusively produces wines from its own vineyards on Spring Mountain. Hallmarks of its wines are concentrated color and flavor, distinctive varietal intensity, supple tannins, bright acidity and longevity. Its signature wine is Elivette, a Bordeaux-style wine carefully blended for structure, elegance and aging potential.

Wow – my absolute favorite place in all of Napa Valley. The wines, the history, and the hospitality are all incredible. If you are a fan of older wines, look no further! On our last visit, we got to sample the ’95 Syrah, which knocked my socks off.

If you get the chance, I highly recommend taking a walk around the grounds. The gardens are beautiful, and the estate is larger than it lets on at first. Definitely ask about all of the history as well, although you may be there for a while!

The only problem is that availability can be quite scarce sometimes, so be sure to book way in advance!
